The table lamp

Here’s a fun little project to make out of clay: a table lamp.

Forever learning.

Most ceramists have made a candlestick or a tealight holder before. But what if you were to try your hand at other light sources? For a homemade table lamp, you do not need much electrical knowledge, because you can just buy a ready-made lamp fitting from a DIY shop. Just add a nice LED bulb and maybe a lampshade, and you can get started with your clay.

It’s up to you what your lamp base will look like. Organic or abstract, made with handbuilding or throwing, small and delicate or oversized… there are so many possibilities. Don’t forget to create a groove on the bottom of the base for the cable. That will ensure that your lamp is stable.
