How to use shellac to decorate your pottery

Forever learning.

With shellac (or also with wax resist) you can easily add surface decoration to your work. Use the shellac to create a design on dry clay, then go over your drawing with a wet sponge.

Little by little the bare parts of the clay are washed away, keeping your design intact. This creates a delicate relief. And the shellac? That simply burns away in the kiln.
