Stamping

Many ceramicists use a stamp to mark their work.

Forever learning.

They make one themselves or have one made with a name or logo incorporated, so that lovers or buyers of ceramics can recognize the maker’s work. Fine technique, but the stamp can also be used in other ways than to mark your work.

You can create beautiful, geometric patterns with it, or spontaneous relief drawings. You can use stamps made of all kinds of materials: rubber stamps, wooden stamps, iron stamps, and perhaps the easiest is a clay stamp.

If you model your own design out of clay, you can biscque fire it and then use it to push into wet clay. Do keep in mind that you will see the mirror image of your drawing, especially if you plan to use text in your design.
