Forever learning.

Is a regular casting mould not adventurous enough for you? Then maybe one-off sand moulds are for you. However, note that this technique is much more difficult than building a sandcastle. So it may take some time to master.

As well as casting clay, you will need a wooden box and a mixture of sand and vegetable oil. Make a cavity in the sand and pour the clay into the opening. To remove the excess clay from the centre, you will need a tool that can suck up the clay, such as an old-fashioned water pistol, syringe or pipette.

As the mould is damp too, it can take a long time for the clay to dry. Once it has, you can open the box and carefully remove the sand. It’s not an easy technique, but the results are beautiful!
