It can be bought ready made from a ceramics shop, or you can make it yourself.
Adding paper fibers makes the porcelain stronger, so you can roll it out thinner. The paper fibers burn away in the kiln, making the walls extra transparent. So it’s ideal for translucent pieces.
The paper fibers also reduce the risk of cracking and tearing. The porcelain is easier to work and assemble, and is lighter.
An alternative to paper porcelain is flax porcelain. Instead of paper fibers, flax fibers are added to the porcelain clay to give the same properties.
