Stilts are supports that you use to set your pieces in the kiln, to avoid them sticking to the kiln shelves. There are ceramic (which can only be used once) and metal stilts. The stilts leave a small mark on the bottoms of the pots, but you can potentially remove that by sanding. In a glazing firing of stoneware at high temperature, triangles are generally not used because they could cause the pot to deform.
