Dissolution

The process by which a substance, such as a powder or solid material, is mixed with a liquid and fully absorbed into it, creating a homogeneous liquid. In ceramics, dissolution plays a role in preparing glazes, clay slip and other ceramic mixtures.

When making glaze, for example, this involves fully mixing glaze powders with water into a smooth, well-blended glaze. It’s essential that all glaze components dissolve completely in the liquid, to avoid lumps and achieve a uniform consistency.
