Impressing

Impressing means pressing an object, such as a stamp, texture roller, leaf or other relief material, into the clay to leave a pattern or texture. This can be done on freshly thrown clay or on flat slabs. The resulting impression can range from simple textures to complex designs, depending on the tool used.
