Throwing off the hump

Throwing off the hump is a technique on the potter’s wheel that allows you to quickly shape many small objects. You centre a large amount of clay, form a large cone, and then make a small piece with the top part each time. Once it’s done, you cut it off and move on to the next one until you run out of clay. Because you don’t have to centre each time, you can produce a lot in a short time.
