Sometimes &#8216;impurities&#8217; such as plant matter are added to the glaze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000; font-style: normal;\">The iron in the glaze reacts to the clay. By reducing the amount of oxygen in the kiln, this reaction is amplified.
